Overview

RoastToast ("we", "our", "the app") is an AI-powered entertainment app that generates humorous captions and replies from user-submitted images. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your data is handled.

Information We Collect

Images you submit: When you use RoastToast, you choose to submit images (screenshots, photos) to our AI service for caption generation. These images are:

• Sent securely to our servers for AI processing
• Processed by Google's Gemini AI to generate captions and replies
• Not stored permanently — images are processed in real-time and discarded immediately after generating results
• Not used to train AI models

Device identifier: We generate a random, anonymous device ID stored locally on your device. This is used solely for rate limiting to prevent abuse of our service. It is not linked to your identity or any personal information.

We do NOT collect:

• Your name, email, phone number, or any personal contact info
• Your location data
• Your contacts or address book
• Your browsing history
• Audio or microphone data
• Any data from other apps on your device

How We Use Your Information

The only processing we do is:

• AI caption generation: Your submitted image is sent to Google Gemini AI to generate humorous captions, roasts, or replies. The image is processed in real-time and not retained.
• Rate limiting: Your anonymous device ID is used to enforce fair usage limits and prevent service abuse.

Data Storage

On your device: App preferences (like heat level settings) and your anonymous device ID are stored locally on your device using secure local storage. This data never leaves your device except as described above.

On our servers: We do not permanently store any user data, images, or generated content on our servers. All processing is done in real-time and results are returned directly to your device.

Third-Party Services

RoastToast uses the following third-party services:

• Google Gemini AI: For AI-powered image analysis and caption generation. Images are sent to Google's API for processing. Google's privacy policy applies to their handling of this data. Google states that data sent through their API is not used to train their models.
• Cloudflare: Our backend infrastructure runs on Cloudflare Workers for fast, secure API processing.

We do not use any analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.

Data Sharing

The only data transmission that occurs is sending your submitted image to Google's Gemini AI for processing, as described above.

Children's Privacy

RoastToast is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we don't collect personal information from any users, this concern is minimal. However, if you are a parent and believe your child is using the app inappropriately, please contact us.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect or store personal data, there is minimal data to manage. However, you can:

• Delete local data: Simply uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data from your device.
• Opt out: You can stop using the app at any time. Since we don't store your data on our servers, no further action is needed.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

• All data transmission between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption
• Our backend infrastructure runs on Cloudflare's secure edge network
• We don't store sensitive data, which significantly reduces security risk

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
